Marijo Demers

Marijo Demers is a Canadian fascinated by all things Tibetan. Curious to explore a new lifestyle far from her own, she left Quebec to spend six months in Dharamsala, India, where she learned Tibetan.

Capitalizing on her status as one of the few Canadians to master the language, after returning to Canada Marijo translated the works of a Tibetan monk living in Chicoutimi.

Marijo is completing her doctorate in political science at the University of Ottawa, where her research focuses on Tibetan nomads from her husband’s region. Along with her two children, Marijo participates actively in the Tibetan community. She regularly lectures on her research, communicating her love for Tibet with passion.
